You may have heard of the Liebster Award before. It is an informal award that is awarded by newbie bloggers to other newbie bloggers.
It is not an official award, but is an attempt at recognising new blogs that have less than 200 followers and that the awarder feels are good but are passed over. My blog was nominated thanks to Tommy Shaw Travels.
The rules of the Liebster Award can vary as the award tends to evolve. For my nomination the rules are:
1. Post the award on your site
2. Link back to the site that nominated you
3. Nominate other blogs for the award
4. Answer the 7 questions that your nominator posed for you.
5. Pose 7 questions for the bloggers you nominate.
The questions posed to me were:
Why did you first get into blogging?
Multiple reasons. It sounded fun. I liked the idea of writing all the tips I found in many places in one place to make it easier for others to travel. It might help me become location independent in the future as well. Either directly from the blog, or from practise and experience for freelancing.
If you could live anywhere on the planet, where would it be?
In a ‘house’ located in a separate dimension. It would have a special door, and when I went through that door it would transport me anywhere on the planet, saving me airfares.
What is the Craziest thing you have done while travelling?
Bungee jumping maybe? Hitchhiking?
What is the best experience you have had while travelling?
To date? Err Ummm. Maybe Swimming with Humpback Whales in Tonga? It is kind of hard to pick one.
What is you’re preferred type of travel – luxury and relaxation or camping and adventure (or a mix of the 2)?
Out of those two options mostly camping and adventure (although I don’t actually camp much I’m more of a couchsurfing/hostel person). It is always good to find somewhere occasionally to relax after travelling a while (I loved chilling out in Dahab in Egypt at the end of my three-month trip around Italy and Egypt), but mostly, as nice as more expensive places are, they often feel too sanitized and removed to me. I prefer to be in the middle of things.
What is you’re favourite facet of travel?
Hard to say. I love visiting places like the Colosseum; they are well-known for a reason, but what I really love though is exploring places that aren’t on every tourist’s list. I love exploring cities and finding abandoned court yards and alley ways. I love getting ‘off the beaten track’ to use that cliché.
What is the tastiest dish you have had while travelling and where did you have it?
Hard to say again. I love food and I’ve had a lot of great food. I possibly loved Truffle flavoured pasta the most. I tried this in Verona and in Cortona in Italy.
While I’m not sure how to tell if they have less than 200 followers or not and may have screwed this part up, in no particular order I nominate:
Check them out!
My questions are:
Why do you travel?
Where is the next place you are planning to go?
Is there anything you dislike about travelling?
What do you do when you are planning a trip?
Are there any countries that you do not want to visit?
If you could visit one place with no restrictions and everything taken care of – where would you go?
Do you know of any other under recognised Blogs?
